Seven Cosmetics Commercial
Description
In my Electronic Image Production class, I was given an incredible opportunity to build a makeup/cosmetics brand from scratch. Over the course of a semester, I poured my heart and soul into every aspect of the brand, from the logo design to the label creation, style guides, and a wide array of advertisements and banner ads.
But the ultimate test of my creativity and skills came with the final assignment, where we were tasked with creating a commercial to showcase our brand and its flagship product line. In my case, I focused on my Dream Maker Collection, which offered a range of innovative and luxurious cosmetics designed to transform and inspire.
Drawing on my experience in motion design and my passion for creating truly exceptional visuals, I crafted a captivating and visually stunning commercial that perfectly captured the essence of my brand and the unique appeal of the Dream Maker Collection.
The end result is a showcase of my skills as a designer and a motion graphics artist, as well as a testament to the power of creativity and hard work in bringing a vision to life.
The Plan
For this assignment, I saw an opportunity to challenge myself and take my skills to the next level. While we weren't required to incorporate any 3D elements, I decided to push beyond the boundaries and explore some new techniques that I had never used before.
My vision for the commercial was to create a lush grass field with a beautiful stone wishing well at its center, surrounded by colorful flowers. The symbolism of the well - that of making one's dreams come true - resonated with me deeply and I knew I wanted to weave that theme throughout the commercial.
As the commercial progressed, I wanted to introduce my makeup products into the scene, with the well serving as a magical portal from which they emerged. I knew that creating realistic grass and flowing water effects would be a challenge, but I was determined to rise to the occasion and learn as much as I could in the process.
With time and effort, I was able to bring my vision to life, crafting a stunning and immersive scene that perfectly captured the magic and allure of the Dream Maker Collection. Finally, I recorded a voiceover for the commercial and edited everything together, creating a seamless and engaging experience that left a lasting impression on my audience.
Overall, this assignment was a valuable opportunity for me to push my creative boundaries, experiment with new techniques, and refine my skills as a motion graphics artist.
Software
Throughout the development of my cosmetics brand, I utilized a range of software programs to bring my vision to life. For label and advertisement creation, Adobe Photoshop was my tool of choice. When designing logos and other visual elements, I turned to Adobe Illustrator. I also employed Adobe InDesign to create a comprehensive style guide, which outlined the brand's specific guidelines and regulations.
In addition, I utilized Cinema 4D for all 3D work, followed by rendering the results. Finally, the rendered elements were brought into Adobe After Effects for further editing. Within After Effects, I was able to enhance the scenes with stock footage and my own voiceover, as well as produce an impressive outro for the ad. Though I would have preferred to incorporate my own footage, time constraints made it infeasible.
